Tab Sound Control support

1Install and get started

1. Install Tab Sound Control from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Pin it to your toolbar for quick access (the pin icon next to the extensions bar).
3. Open any page with audio, like a music or video player.

2How to activate a tab

1. With the tab you want to control open and active, click the extension's icon.
2. Turn on that tab's switch in the panel.
3. Because of a Chrome restriction, capture can only start from the tab that's currently active — if you try to activate a background one, open it first.

3Control two or more tabs

1. Repeat the activation process for each tab you want to control, one at a time (always from the active tab).
2. Adjust each one's relative volume and equalization separately.
3. Use the global volume to raise or lower all of them at once without losing the balance between them.

4Change the audio output

1. Expand the tab's detail panel and look for "Audio output".
2. Pick a device from the dropdown, or click "Choose device" to see more options.
3. The choice is only for that tab and that session: it's lost when you close the tab.

5Enable device names

1. Open the extension's Options page (the gear icon in the popup).
2. Under "Per-tab audio output", click "Enable device names".
3. Grant the microphone permission when asked: it's used once to reveal the names and discarded instantly, never listened to or recorded.

6Fix capture errors

If a notice appears when activating a tab, follow the instructions shown in that pop-up itself: opening the right tab and clicking the icon again, or retrying. The browser's own internal pages can never be captured, by Chrome's design.

7Reload the extension

1. Open chrome://extensions in a new tab.
2. Find Tab Sound Control and click the reload icon.
3. Useful right after an update, or if the panel stops responding.

8Reset the settings

1. Open the popup or the Options page.
2. Click "Reset settings" at the bottom of the panel.
3. Processing will be turned off on every tab and saved profiles will be erased.
